Institution Food House


This 340,000-square-foot full line distribution center in Florence, South Carolina utilized an “L” shaped building design to segregate auto/truck circulation and improve operational efficiency. The project included a new dry storage area, a +55/45/34ºF produce area, a +34ºF dairy/deli area, a +28ºF meat/seafood area, a 10ºF frozen food area, and a 20ºF ice cream area.

Additionally, Food Tech installed a +34ºF-refrigerated dock that measured 80 feet deep, with a total of 42 shipping/receiving doors. Other tasks included the construction of regional sales / operations / distribution offices, a test kitchen, vehicle maintenance/fueling, and a computer controlled central ammonia refrigeration system
