Baldor Specialty Foods - Bronx, NY
Baldor Specialty Foods needed to redesign and retrofit an existing warehouse into a modern ready to eat (RTE) food process plant, fresh cut produce facility, and distribution center.
Thanks to their expertise in food safety design engineering, Food Tech was contacted to lead the project. Food Tech’s design accommodated both hi-care and low-care food processing zones. The project is built to the highest standards, including Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), Safe Quality Food (FSQ), and Hazards Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) compliance.
Situated in the heart of Bronx, New York, the finished plant houses multiple temperature and humidity zones, as well as double-sided refrigerated docks. The 180,000-square-foot plant also contains Baldor’s new corporate offices.
During this project, Food Tech delivered the following:
- 55℉, 45℉, 34℉, and -10℉ zones with ergonomic material handling systems
- Double-sided refrigerated docks with vertical storying hydraulic levelers
- HACCP, SQF, FSMA, compliant hi-care and low-care zones
- Corporate Offices
From humble beginnings as a Greenwich Village fruit stand, Baldor has grown into a leading regional distributor and importer of fresh produce and specialty foods. Baldor provides a consistent supply of fresh foods for a variety of food service clientele in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions.
