Caito Foods - Indianapolis, IN

An ammonia refrigeration central system was added to this fresh cut fruit and vegetable food manufacturing plant.

Caito Foods needed to build a new fresh cut fruit and vegetable manufacturing plant and convert an existing ambient warehouse into a state-of-the-art cold storage warehouse.

Food Tech was contacted for the project because of their experience designing and building ready to eat (RTE) food process plants. The 65,000-square-foot facility involved significant design and engineering challenges including building hi-care and lo-care food process areas. The converted warehouse was engineered to the highest standards and is compliant with regulations set by the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), Safe Quality Food (FSQ), Hazards Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

During the project, Food Tech delivered the following:

  • Hi-care and lo-care separation
  • European automated process equipment
  • Ammonia refrigeration systems
  • FSMA, SQF, HACCP, and USDA compliance
